After a forgettable 2009 season, Andrea Antonelli will line up on a Honda again for the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup this year. Antonelli won the European Superstock 600 Championship in 2007 and then moved up a notch to Superstock 1000. But in 20 races, his best result was one podium at Brands Hatch in 2008 and a few top 10 finishes.


Last year was spent on a Yamaha, but now the Italian has switched bikes for 2010. "In 2009 I had a few too many problems with the set-up of the bike, which was totally new to me, and the season didn't go the way I wanted it to go," said the 22 year-old from Castiglion Del Lago. "Then at a certain point I stopped having fun, because when you start off with the aim of winning the title and instead you find yourself fighting for tenth place you you're your self-confidence and end up making mistakes".


This year Antonelli has joined up with the Lorini Honda squad, and his team-mate will be Eddi La Marra. "I'm busy training, swimming, cycling and motocross, and I'm feeling confident. The Lorini team have been after me for the last four or five years and I decided to race with them because of their passion and professionalism. To be sincere, my aim is to have fun on the bike again, but I'm not making any predictions, and everything else will come as a result".


Antonelli's first test on the new bike is scheduled for this Sunday at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome.
