The accord is a major boost for the Vanni Lorenzini led team, which now switches to Kawasaki after years with Yamaha, and with the support of the Japanese manufacturer, should lead to the start of a significant new collaboration between the two sides.Foret declared: "When the possibility emerged for me to race a Kawasaki, I was really happy because I know the passion of the Japanese factory for competition. The choice of the Lorenzini by Leoni team is the best that I could hope for because it has been one of the most competitive and professional over the years. We know there's a lot of work to do but in Vanni Lorenzini I have found the same passion and desire to win of the most ambitious technicians, things that for a rider are fundamental. In the two tests carried out so far I could see that the ZX-6R has an excellent potential and I am certain that we will be able to play a major role. On a Kawasaki I've already won two races in the past (Misano in 2003 and Phillip Island in 2007), and I can't see any reason why I can't increase my victory streak in 2010. Thanks to Kawasaki and Team Lorenzini by Leoni and everyone for making this operation possible." Vanni Lorenzini added: "This agreement successfully brings an end to lengthy negotiations that began some time ago. We have always wanted to continue in the Supersport World Championship but only if we had the technical conditions required to fight for the win. I am proud to be able to say that with Kawasaki we can now aim for the top. Fabien Foret is a top rider who has no need for introduction, he is an outstanding talent who can help us in the development of the new bike. I have a good relationship with Kawasaki, one that includes the desire to build a future together. This has recharged my batteries and now we're ready to fight against the competition. It'll be tough but I'm sure we can be up there. A big thanks to Kawasaki and all of my collaborators who worked hard for this accord." Source: World Superbike
