The next title to be decided in the WSB paddock may well be the European Superstock 600 Championship, as Yamaha MRS rider Jeremy Guarnoni has a 43-point lead over Florian Marino (Ten Kate Race Junior Honda) with only 50 points left for any rider who wins the last two races.
The Yamaha-Honda battle has been a remarkable one this year, but the difference between Guarnoni and Marino is that the leader has scored a podium in every single race, including five wins, while Marino has had one DNF, and only two wins.

It took the impressive home push from hometown hero Luke Mossey (Sondelsport Yamaha) to wrestle a win away from either Guarnoni or Marino at Silverstone, as none of the regular competition has managed this feat so far.
Whatever happens in round nine at Imola, Marino is guaranteed at least second place now, as he is 51 points ahead of his closest rival, Berardino Lombardi.

A small piece of history was made in Germany last time out, as Triumph as a manufacturer took a first pole position in this class, thanks to wild-card rider, Marc Moser (Sport-Evolution Team Triumph).
