An early start at 8.30 am kicked off the Portimao official IMS pre-season tests, with the top Supersport World Championship riders intent on making the most of all three days of testing.
The first session was held in dry conditions as David Salom (Kawasaki Provec Motocard.com) headed off his team-mate Broc Parkes (Kawasaki Provec Motocard.com) with his 1'47.134. Salom set 21 laps in total.


Luca Scassa and Chaz Davies had an immediate impact on the strong WSS field after their first rides on their ParkinGo Yamahas, posting third and fourth fastest times respectively.


Local star rider Miguel Praia took his Parkalgar Honda to fifth place in the early rankings, and the status of top Honda rider. Fabien Foret (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) was sixth on his return to the team he won the 2002 World Championship with. The next WSS session begins at 12.40 local time.
