New WSS rider Sam Lowes (Parkalgar Honda) secured the fastest time in the first day of testing at Portimao, taking his CBR600RR to a 1'45.845 lap right at the end of the day.
The Kawasaki Provec Motocard.com duo of David Salom and Broc Parkes were second and third fastest respectively, with Fabien Foret (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) giving a good opening day account of himself in fourth.


Twenty-one riders in total lapped Portimao in the Supersport division today, with the best Yamaha rider proving to be Chaz Davies (Yamaha ParkinGo Team). Step Racing Honda rider, and former Superstock 600 champion, Gino Rea was sixth; new WSS force James Ellison seventh for the recently-formed Bogdanka Honda squad.
