Monday's action in the USA Round of the championship at Miller Motorsports Park got underway this morning with the warm-up. Ruben Xaus set the quickest time of 1 minute 52.148 seconds on his Castrol Honda machine in cold conditions, but his time was some way off the top dry weather laps. Xaus finished ahead of Jakub Smrz (Effenbert-Liberty Ducati) and Noriyuki Haga (PATA Racing Team Aprilia).
Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) was in fourteenth, in front of Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike), while Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) only completed a couple of laps.
